Most veterans are completely unaware that they, or their surviving spouse, may qualify for a veterans pension to help cover costs associated with health care, home care, housing, or other needs. As of last month, those benefits were more easily obtainable.
On September 18, 2018, the Department of Veterans Affairs published its new rules that will make it more difficult to qualify for pension benefits. These final rules went into effect October 18, 2018, changing VA planning drastically.
